Every time I read a story like this it makes my heart smile. My grandma loved the outdoors and wildlife, and so did my parents. So I think there is a 'hiking gene.' I used to hike a lot when I was younger then didn't do it much for about 20 years. I got back into it three years ago. I am 59 now, so hopefully I will have quite a few more years to hike and enjoy the outdoors. It sure has made a big difference in my life. Stuff that used to seem important or a big deal just isn't anymore--only being outdoors is important.

Re: The Hiking Gene

I started walking/hiking at the age of 50. I'm now 52, so it's always nice to know it's never too late.

Re: The Hiking Gene

Kolby, this is great!
